At the start of any project, we work with the client to record all known costs (i.e. land purchase price, Council application fees), estimated costs (i.e. civil works construction, building retrofits, infrastructure charges) and other project costs (i.e. allowances for contingency, holding costs, interest repayments) as part of our budget forecast. This information is then used to guide potential development scope changes and is also used as a key tool for finance applications. Oversights or incorrect estimations of expected costs at this stage will often be detrimental to the overall success of the project.
During the project, regular budget reports are prepared which accurately record the status of the project and compare it to the agreed budget forecast. This information will also often be sought from financiers as part of any fund drawdown requests. Preparing such reports will enable critical review of the project timeline and will often be used as a key tool to determine whether project pivots are required.
The compilation of all financial outgoings and incomings as part of a post project budget report is essential in ensuring that a true and accurate representation of the success of a project can be determined.
